Palavras-chave: Modelagem atmosférica, parametrização cumulus, extremos de chuva Evaluative study of the cumulative parameterization of Model WRF for a case of extreme precipitation that occurred in Fortaleza-Ce, Brazil. A B S T R A C TNumerical simulation models of atmospheric behavior present different possibilities of results, from different parameterizations, to describe the same phenomenon. This can easily be verified when the simulation is performed for the same meteorological phenomenon using the different types of cloud parameterization, available in the codes of each model. This is the case of WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting), particularly when the simulation is done for tropical regions where the cumulus clouds are responsible for most of the precipitation that occurs there. This paper compares and discusses the results of simulated precipitation with the WRF, for an extreme precipitation event, which occurred in Fortaleza, Ceará (Brazil), on January 3rd and 4th, 2015. Three different schemes, already implemented in WRF4.0 , were used to parameterize the cumulus convection; They are: Kain-Fritsch (cu_physics 1), Betts-Miller-Janjic (cu_physics 2) and Grell-Devenyi (cu_physics 3). The simulated total daily precipitation was compared with rainfall data from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) and Reanalysis from the National Center for Enviromental Prediction/National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCEP/NCAR). The results show that for daily rainfall, the Betts-Miller and Grell-Devenyi parameterizations provided the results that were closest to what was observed. For daily rainfall totals, the Grell-Devenyi parameterization showed the best performance. Keywords: Atmospheric modeling, cumulus parameterization, extremes of rain" @default.
