Specifically, metal oxides (MO) and hydroxides (HO) 2D nanomaterials have attracted special attention due to their favorable physicochemical, opto-electronic, and thermal characteristics. Utilization of MO/HO 2D nanomaterials in variegated kinds of solar cells has been indicative of the enhancement in the overall performance through improvement of charge separation and transferal between different components of champion devices. The quest for the development of efficient and stable solar cells indicates the need for utilization and optimization with MO/HO 2D nanomaterials. In terms of eco-friendliness and economic viability, MO/HO 2D nanomaterials have proved to be favorable class of nanomaterials for use in solar cells. This chapter summarizes the most recent advancements done in the field of solar cells utilizing different types of MO/HO 2D nanomaterials. In this regard, analysis was done on the morphologically varied kinds of MO/HO 2D nanomaterials. Furthermore, we also compared the synthetization strategies, structural stability, electrochemical functionality, and surficial aspects of these materials aimed at use in solar cells. In the final section, we have added an account of the challenges, future perspectives, and directions associated with MO/HO 2D nanomaterials utilization for performance enhancement of the solar cells." @default.
