- W4225976421 abstract "Photocatalysis has been accepted as a promising technique worldwide to resolve environmental issues, especially pollution and energy crisis. Photocatalysis has provided pathways in the field of electronics by the use of nanoparticles of semiconductors. However, the limitation in using semiconductor catalysts can minimize overall photocatalytic performance. Research has shown that a narrow band gap is suitable for visible light irradiation, but the material in that region may lack instability. On the other hand, a wide band gap semiconductor may be more stable, but it can only absorb ultraviolet (UV) light. To resolve this issue, many solutions are proposed including the elemental doping, composite cocatalysts, and heterostructure. Metal loading on the surface of a semiconductor can also provide the solution to deal with the recombination rate of charge pairs. Using plasmonic materials in reaction with other semiconductors can efficiently achieve a variety of environmental applications connected to photocatalysis." @default.
