- W4226107199 abstract "Heatwaves, extreme precipitation, droughts, floods, storm surges and tropical cyclones are the most common extreme events providing risks and causing damage to our society. The evaluation of their impact is region dependent and many research gaps must still be addressed to improve the resilience of public health to such events. Most of these events are linked to two parameters – temperature and precipitation – that are considered reasonably well represented by state-of-the-art general circulation models. The Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) generation models are selected to investigate averages and extremes of precipitation and temperature under a changing climate. The results indicate that CMIP6 has similar difficulties as the CMIP5 models to represent precipitation, in particular regarding the representation of extreme precipitation. CMIP6 models tend to overestimate extreme precipitation over wet regions." @default.
