- W4226236335 abstract "Approximately 200,000 permanent pacemakers (PPMs) and 120,000 implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are implanted annually in the United States. Cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) have increased the quality and duration of life for millions of patients by providing support of heart rate, atrioventricular/interventricular/intraventricular synchrony, and prevention of sudden cardiac death. Tricuspid valve dysfunction after CIED implantation can occur. We review in this chapter, the various mechanisms of tricuspid valve dysfunction associated with CIED placement, the imaging modalities used for its diagnosis, and various treatment options.KeywordsTricuspid valve dysfunctionCardiac implantable electronic devicesPermanent pacemakersImplantable cardioverter-defibrillatorsLead-induced tricuspid regurgitationTricuspid lead extractionRight ventricular dysfunction" @default.
