- W4226317321 abstract "Electrochemical-based treatments are increasing in popularity due to their “green” operation and not requiring added chemicals. The use of electricity for petroleum wastewater treatment can greatly enhance the separation of oil and recovery of valuable metals. Electrocoagulation, electroflotation, and electrooxidation are vital processes that can take place in a given electrochemical cell. Electrochemical methods have proved effective as independent operations to remedy recalcitrant oily wastewater. Integrations with other advanced treatment methods are sought to increase the quality of the effluents and optimize the whole system’s energy consumption. Membranes, advanced oxidation processes, and biological treatments are good candidates for integrated systems. This chapter presents the latest advances in electrochemical processes as standalone and hybrid/integrated petroleum wastewater treatment systems." @default.
