- W4226415864 abstract "Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) covers the largest share of all mortality occurring due to liver cancers in the Asia-Pacific region. Hepatitis B and C virus, cirrhosis, aflatoxin-contaminated food, alcohol, and diabetes are major risk factors that contribute to its pathogenesis. Removal of tumor tissues by surgical procedures seems effective but is associated with a high chance of recurrence. Current therapy has various adverse effects, like gastrointestinal and abdominal pain, hypertension, and haemorrhage, linked to its use. These limitations call for the development of effective therapies and newer candidates for the treatment of HCC. Because of the anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, and antioxidant potential of herbal drugs, they can be considered suitable for the management of HCC. Herbal drugs contain components that possess coordinated, multilevel, and multitargeted effects, making them ideal candidates to treat HCC. This chapter provides better insight into understanding the mechanistic role of herbal drugs in the management of HCC." @default.
