More and more population is flowing from rural part to urban area for their livelihood. This has led to the construction of dwellings at large scale. Bricks, being one of the vital building components, need to be manufactured at mass level that utilizes in-situ clay, energy and water as the resources. Exploitation of such resources at such a pace not only creates the environmental imbalance but also raises question on sustainability of the growth. On the other hand, the rapid growth is also responsible for the generation of Municipal Solid Waste to tunes of thousands of tonnes, which is posing not only a problem related to its disposal but also environmental issue and availability of landfill areas in urban cities. The current study's goal is to replace natural clay in the manufacturing of bricks with soil from decomposed MSW. This paper discusses on the work that is being carried out by various researchers in utilizing waste in manufacturing of bricks and the review concludes with the suggestions that how MSW can be used." @default.
