For example, if I want to buy a mobile phone or computer, I would rather ask myself a series of questions that would become the criteria (characteristics). Therefore, decision-making or analysis is qualitative or quantitative, or a combination of both. With the above-mentioned factors or properties, one could say that decision-making is no longer a one-sided process that simply involves choosing between two things. Rather, it has become a complex problem involving making a decision that has to satisfy the preferences of a population or society of people. Decision-making is now an issue left for expert consultation. In order to solve this issue, many researchers and authors have started to develop theories, but each time one theory emerges to solve a particular problem, some questions still remain unanswered. In this book, we will adopt an approach that will not only help us to solve problems involving multi-criteria decision-making analysis, but we will try to understand how this can help in healthcare and biomedical engineering areas, along with their history, their advantages and disadvantages, and their areas of application, and will explain how their common applications relate to their relative strengths and weaknesses. This chapter is intended to help the reader appreciate the evolution of the multi-criteria decision-making analysis, its theories, and the evolution of such theories over time." @default.
