- W4231514197 abstract "Abstract Classroom research (CR) in applied linguistics has evolved from descriptions of pedagogic practices used for second/foreign language (L2) teacher training purposes, to experimental investigations of the effects of different types of instruction on L2 learning, to ethnographic studies of the social and cultural factors that contribute to L2 development in classroom settings. Influenced by a wide range of theoretical frameworks and methodological approaches, CR focuses on what happens in L2 classrooms—the type of pedagogic, linguistic, and social interactions that take place between teachers and learners and the nature and delivery of instructional materials. CR also includes an examination of the knowledge and experience that learners bring to the L2 classroom (e.g., linguistic, cognitive, social, affective) and the education, expertise, approach, and philosophy of teachers. These elements of L2 classrooms are documented, analyzed, and interpreted in CR in an effort to understand how they interact and contribute to more (or less) successful L2 learning and teaching." @default.
