- W4231567196 abstract "To compare pseudo-continuous arterial spin-labeled (PCASL) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging measured quantitative CBF of patients with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB), Alzheimer's disease (AD) and controls, in a region-of-interest (ROI) and voxel-wise fashion. Whole-brain 3D fast spin echo PCASL images of 20 FTD patients, 14 DLB patients, 48 AD patients and 50 subjects with subjective complaints who served as controls from the memory clinic based Amsterdam Dementia Cohort were analyzed. Regional CBF patterns were compared using analyses-of-variance (ANOVA) for repeated measures. Permutation tests were used for voxel-wise comparisons. Analyses were performed using both CBF without correction for partial volume effects ('uncorrected') and partial volume corrected cortical CBF. All analyses were corrected for age and sex, and ANOVA were additionally corrected for white matter hyperintensities. ANOVA for repeated measures showed that patients with AD (age 65±7, 54% female, MMSE 21±5), FTD (age 63±7, 30% female, MMSE 26±3) and DLB (age 66±8, 14% female, MMSE 21±4) showed a different pattern of regional CBF changes (p for interaction <0.001). Compared to controls, largest CBF decreases were located in temporal (21±5 vs. 26±5 mL/100g/min), parietal (23±6 vs. 30±5 mL/100g/min) and occipital (26±7 vs. 34±7 mL/100g/min) cortices in AD patients. In FTD and DLB patients, largest CBF decreases were located in frontal (17±5 and 14±4 vs. 22±4 mL/100g/min), parietal (24±7 and 18±5 mL/100g/min) and occipital (27±8 and 21±8 mL/100g/min) cortices compared to controls. DLB patients showed lowest CBF values throughout the brain, with a relative preservation of perfusion in the temporal cortex. Voxel-wise comparisons provided spatial maps of the different CBF patterns." @default.
