- W4232528211 abstract "Dentoalveolar trauma occurs frequently in children and young adults, making up 5% of all injuries. This chapter discusses multidisciplinary strategies for the long-term and late management of some of the adverse conditions caused by dentoalveolar trauma in adult patients and presents several relevant clinical cases. Pulpal necrosis can occur following dentoalveolar trauma. Commonly observed discolouration of teeth following dentoalveolar trauma is believed to be due to pulpal haemorrhage. Orthodontic space management following traumatic loss of teeth is an important part of a multidisciplinary team approach. Autotransplantation of premolar teeth to the maxillary anterior region following traumatic tooth loss is a viable treatment option, with a success rate of over 90% according to Andreasen's studies. Removable partial dentures (RPDs) provide useful information regarding tooth position and the amount of missing soft tissue, which can be used as diagnostic tools in planning for soft or hard tissue augmentation and subsequent implant treatment." @default.
