This review examines the applications, benefits, and implications of radiography in public health. It also examines the challenges and potential advanced practice roles for radiographers in public health radiography (PHR).Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses - Scoping review extension (PRISMA- ScR) checklist was employed, and the search was conducted using PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar to identify relevant articles that explored the concept of radiography in public health. Evidence was analysed using an inductive iterative approach.Radiographic imaging modalities such as ultrasound, computed tomography, and plain X-ray had wide applicability in public health fields of preventive cardiology, preventive oncology, maternal health, infectious disease epidemiology, and radiographic informatics. PHR effectively reduced mortality, improved outcomes, informed lifestyle changes to mitigate the risk of impending disease. PHR also helped in monitoring disease progression and predicting treatment outcomes. However, evidence establishing a competency framework that supports PHR is scarce.Radiography makes a significant contribution to public health in reducing mortality and morbidity. Therefore, developing a PHR competency framework can accentuate the contribution Radiographers make to solving public health issues.Les techniques radiographiques sont de plus en plus utilisées en santé publique pour améliorer les résultats relatifs aux maladies chroniques et transmissibles. Cette revue examine les applications, les avantages et les implications de la radiographie en santé publique. Elle examine également les défis et les rôles potentiels en pratique avancée des radiographes dans le domaine de la radiographie en santé publique (RSP).Les auteurs ont utilisé la liste de contrôle PRISMA- ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses - Scoping review extension) et effectué les recherches sur PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, ScienceDirect et Google Scholar pour identifier les articles pertinents qui explorent le concept de radiographie en santé publique. Les preuves ont été analysées en utilisant une approche inductive itérative.Les modalités d'imagerie radiographique telles que l'échographie, la tomodensitométrie et la radiographie simple sont largement applicables dans les domaines de la santé publique que sont la cardiologie préventive, l'oncologie préventive, la santé maternelle, l'épidémiologie des maladies infectieuses et l'informatique radiographique. La RSP a permis de réduire efficacement la mortalité, d'améliorer les résultats et d'informer sur les changements de mode de vie afin d'atténuer le risque de maladie imminente. La RSP a également aidé à surveiller la progression de la maladie et à prédire les résultats du traitement. Cependant, les preuves établissant un cadre de compétences qui soutient la RSP sont rares.La radiographie apporte une contribution importante à la santé publique en réduisant la mortalité et la morbidité. Par conséquent, le développement d'un cadre de compétences en RSP peut accentuer la contribution des radiographes à la résolution des problèmes de santé publique." @default.
