- W4233670520 abstract "The popular utilization of methane is to use it as a chemical feedstock to produce the desired industrial molecules including methanol, ethylene, benzene and acetic acid. Methane could be oxidized selectively by oxygen to produce methanol directly through a thermodynamically favorable oxidation process. The oxidations of methane to the basic organic compounds are highly demanded, especially under mild conditions. The ideal reaction conditions for the oxidation of methane to methanol must include neutral media, ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. This chapter describes some examples on oxidation of methane, and reviews cleavage of sp3C-H bond of methane, especially under mild conditions, and formation of new C-X bond selectively and effectively (X = C, O, halo, etc.). In order to establish the effective oxidations of methane under mild conditions especially for basic chemical production in industry, researchers have to focus on seeking novel catalysts and catalytic systems." @default.
