- W4235707002 abstract "An investigation of the accumulation/voltammetric behavior of tricyclic antidepressants (desipramine, imipramine and trimipramine) at lipid-coated glassy carbon and carbon paste electrodes is presented. These hydrophobic drugs are extracted from aqueous solutions into the lipid coating and yield a well-defined voltammetric response. Hydrophilic electroactive species (e.g., ascorbic acid, uric acid, acetaminophen), that commonly co-exist and interfere in the quantitation of tricyclic antidepressants, are rejected by the lipid layer. The response is evaluated with respect to the pH, accumulation time, bulk concentration, film-to-film reproducibility, scan rate and other variables. Rapid and convenient regeneration of “analyte-free” lipid layer is obtained upon immersion in the blank solution, thus allowing use of a single electrode in multiple determinations. Applicability to direct measurements in urine samples is demonstrated. These data demonstrate that hydrophobic voltammetry offers a highly useful means of imparting selectivity toward species in solution based on polarity." @default.
