- W4237662018 abstract "To better understand the role of biofeedback (BF) in the advances in integrative dermatology, it is important to focus attention on recent studies in several fields of knowledge and in a general new way of thinking. This chapter introduces some concepts of epigenetics and psycho-neuro-endocrinoimmunology (PNEI). Skin disorders can have a significant effect on the psychoemotional sphere of an individual, and the chronic stress and/or anxiety – through PNEI and behavioral mechanisms – can have a significant effect on skin disorders and on epigenetics. The application of BF for skin disorders, complementary to drug and/or non-drug therapies, may improve treatment, helping to better counteract at least psycho-emotional implications such as anxiety and/or stress. BF is a procedure that is still considered experimental, even if it was invented almost 50 years ago, and the scientific literature has described its validity since its invention." @default.
