- W4238162937 abstract "Financial Planning Review represents the strengthening connection between research and practice. All established professions consistently test best practices and work to better understand a dynamic environment to alter its daily practices, refine its policies and procedures, and educate the next generation of professionals. Financial planning is no different. As a practitioner-based profession, many of the CFP® professionals seek to better understand their clients' biases, behaviors, and perceptions so to help them establish, and most importantly meet, their long-term financial goals. Research can challenge our assumptions, examine our profession beyond our own offices and Zoom meetings, and help us learn more about both the client and planner—all to make our growing profession more impactful. The Academic Research Colloquium also represents this connection between research and practice. Now in our fifth year, the colloquium brings leading scholars to present their work to a broad group of practitioners and fellow researchers. Making an overt invitation to researchers from related disciplines (it is in the name of the event—The Academic Research Colloquium for Financial Planning and Related Disciplines) brings new research methodologies and ways of looking at human behavior, communication, and countless other topics to financial planning. The 2021 Academic Research Colloquium will be held online, bringing an even broader group of scholars and practitioners from around the world to discuss new research. We are excited that this year's paper acceptance rate is 18%, by far the most competitive field ever. The Steering Committee is pleased that this year's list of accepted papers includes a total of seven countries and a diversity of institutions and research disciplines. As Financial Planning Review continues to build its readership as well as its reputation within the academic community, we believe we are poised for deeper impact. We can be the primary platform for inquiry that advances practice while furthering financial planning's presence within the academy. For all the questions that practitioners ask of their clients and their practice, there is a potential paper out there that can answer them. Similarly, every practitioner brings with her potential data sets and a laboratory for scholars to answer the most pressing questions facing the profession. Within the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning, we believe this growing partnership between research and practice benefits practitioners, scholars, and our current and future clients. With over 122,000 downloads of Financial Planning Review so far and the hundreds of practitioners and scholars attending this year's ARC, we think we are well on our way to building impactful research platforms that promote even more innovative ways of serving our clients." @default.
