- W4238491490 abstract "Annealed and 25% cold-worked polycrystalline iron subjected to plastic strain ranges varying between 0.003 and 0.048 showed hardening and softening, respectively, to common saturation stress levels which were directly related to the strain range. On saturation, subgrains of a definite size were formed and the size was found to be inversely proportional to the saturation stress. The relation between the cell size (L) and the plastic strain range ∆ερ maybe expressed by L = β (∆ερ/2)−n where β is a constant and n the cyclic strain hardening exponent. The hardening rates were found to increase with plastic strain range whereas the softening rates decreased. The number of cycles for saturation (n s) increased with plastic strain range for both hardening and softening according to the relation Ns = R exp (−m √∆ερ), where R and m are constants. The hardening and softening curves may be normalized, resulting in saturation occurring at a constant value of the function (√∆ε + 0.13 log n) where n is number of cycles. Résumé Du fer polycristallin, recuit puis √∆εcroui de 25%, déformé plastiquement de fač on cyclique dans des intervalles variant de 0.003 à 0.048 a montré respectivement un durcissement et un adoucissement à des niveaux commtuns de contrainte de saturation, niveaux directement reliés au domaine de déformation. A la saturation, des sous grains de taille delmie sont formés et celle taille est inversement proportionnelle à la contrainte de saturation. La relation entre la taille L des cellules et le domaine de déformation plastique ∆εp est L = β (∆ερ/2)−n β étant une constante et n l'exposant detmissant l'écrouissage cyclique. Les taux d'écrouissage augmentent avec le domaine de déformation plastique. Le nombre Ns de cycles pour la saturation augmente avec le domaine de déformation plastique, pour Ie durcissement ou l'adoucissement suivant la relation Ns = R .exp (−m√∆εp) R et m étant des constantes. Les courbes de durcissement ou d'adoucissement peuvent être normalisées ce qui montre que la saturation se produit à une valeur constan te de la fonction (√∆+0.13 ln/n) n étant le nombre de cycles." @default.
