- W4238809505 abstract "Fractures of small size or in complex anatomic regions may not be appreciated on radiographs. CT and MR imaging both have the spatial resolution to depict these types of injuries in order to obtain a precise diagnosis and to aid in surgical planning. Fractures of long bones and joints are common traumatic injuries. Muscle trauma can occur with or without accompanying skeletal injury. Injuries of the shoulder joint or ligaments and tendons adjacent to the joint are common in active dogs and can be the result of either a single insult or repetitive trauma. The most common stifle injury in dogs is rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament. Although diagnosis is often made after significant osteoarthrosis has occurred, early detection with CT and MR imaging could be advantageous for prevention of degenerative disease. MR arthrography has also been investigated for evaluating the cruciate ligaments and menisci." @default.
