The life‐span with honey as diet is also longer than with several other diets (water, glucose, bean leaf, honeydew and/or first‐stage larvae of Trialeurodes vaporariorum ) but shorter than the life‐span of parasites that had parasitization and host‐feeding possibilities. Female parasites live longer than males. No relation was found between the size of the parasite and its lifespan. The host‐plant species on which the whitefly developed affects the life‐span of E. formosa . The numbers of parasitizations and host feedings are not correlated throughout the life‐span of E. formosa. E. formosa is an autogenous insect. Life‐span is not negatively affected by a period without hosts immediately after hatching when honey is available; when no food is provided lifespan is reduced. The number of mature oocytes per ovariole at the start of an oviposition period and the number of eggs laid per day during the oviposition period are positively correlated (r = 0.97). In 3 tables the factors affecting oosorption, the influence of food and of size on life‐span, and the relationship between feeding behaviour and ovipositional behaviour of hymenopterous parasitic species are compared. Zusammenfassung Zur Wirt‐Parasit‐Beziehung zwischen Encarsia formosa Gahan (Hymenoptera, Aphelinidae) und Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) (Homoptera, Aleyrodidae). XVI. Wirkung der Ernährung auf die Oogenese, Eiablage, Lebensdauer und Fekundität von Encarsia formosa und anderer parasitischer Hymenopteren Unter Zuchtbedingungen ohne die Möglichkeit, einen Wirt zu parasitieren oder sich von diesem zu ernähren, weist E. formosa eine längere Lebensdauer und mehr Oocyten pro Ovariole auf, wenn Honig als Futter angeboten wird als ohne jegliches Nahrungsangebot. Die Lebensdauer ist bei Fütterung mit Honig länger als bei jener mit Wasser, Glukose, Bohnenblättern, Honigtau und/ oder T. vaporariorum L1‐Larven, jedoch kürzer als bei Parasitierungs‐ und Ernährungsmöglichkeiten. Die weiblichen Tiere des Parasiten leben länger als die männlichen. Zwischen Größe und Lebensdauer des Parasiten konnte keine Korrelation festgestellt werden. Die Wirtspflanzenart, auf welcher sich die Weiße Fliege entwickelt, beeinflußt die Lebensdauer von E. formosa . Die Anzahl parasitierter und gefressener Wirte korreliert nicht während der Lebensdauer von E. formosa. E. formosa ist ein autogenes Insekt. Wenn Honig als Futter zur Verfügung steht, wird die Lebensdauer nicht negativ durch eine unmittelbar auf das Schlüpfen folgende Periode ohne Wirtstiere beeinflußt; jedoch wird die Lebensdauer reduziert, wenn keine Nahrung angeboten wird. Zwischen der Zahl reifer Oocyten pro Ovariole zu Beginn der Eiablage‐Periode und der Zahl der abgelegten Eier pro Tag während dieser Periode besteht eine positive Korrelation (r = 0,97).
