It also covers x-ray and neutron reflectivity. The chapter introduces basic quantities including definition of angles, refractive index and scattering length density. It discusses the different types of specular and off-specular scans that are performed in a reflectivity experiment to obtain particular structural information. The chapter introduces distorted wave Born approximation, which is essential to properly analyse GISAXS data to provide detailed structural information. It also discusses the analysis of grazing-incidence small-angle scattering (GISAS) data. Informative and representative examples of experimental GISAS data from selected systems including polymer films and nanoparticles deposited at surfaces, along with a few examples of in situ and kinetic measurements are presented.
