- W4239881808 abstract "Nanofiltration (NF) is mainly applied in drinking water purification process steps, such as water softening by reducing hardness. NF is a membrane filtration based method that uses nanometre-sized cylindrical through-pores that pass through the membrane at 90°. NF membranes have pore sizes from 1 to 10 Å, smaller than that used in microfiltration and ultrafiltration (UF), but just larger than that in reverse osmosis (RO). NF membranes are made by phase inversion or by interfacial polymerization. Industrial applications of NF are quite common in the food and dairy sector, in chemical processing, in the pulp and paper industry, and in textiles, although the chief application continues to be in the treatment of fresh, process and waste waters. UF and NF with high-shear cross-rotational (CR) filters have been utilized for cleaning of clear filtrates and effluents from the pulp and paper industry." @default.
