About 3.42 × 106 t/y of pesticide has been used worldwide to meet the assured quality and quantity of food and feed (2015 data from FAOSTAT). Unfortunately, in most of the cases, only 0.1%–1% pesticide is actually reaching the intended target, thus the rest 99% of pesticides entering into the environment. A large number of pesticides are released every day, which impact human and animal health and is a major concern across the world. Accurate, sensitive, selective, and prompt analysis of pesticides in rapid time is very important to screen for an effective bioremediation process. Biosensors in comparison to the traditional monitoring system are reliable, specific, and sensitive for the detection and measurement of the pesticides contaminants. A biological system such as enzymes and proteins as a source of substrate for a reaction into the product helps in detection, quantification of pollutants followed by complete degradation into nonpolluting compounds. Recent improvements in the nanotechnology have improved the efficiency of biosensors for the detection of pesticides contaminants in the environment. Pesticides detection by biosensors technique is a growing area and variety of biosensors have been found for the same in the market." @default.
