- W4242492562 abstract "The paper of Randy Bradley, Renée Pratt, Terry Byrd, Christina Outlay and Donald Wynn tackles the important topic of how healthcare organizations can use IT to improve performance and reduce costs. Cultural and regulatory concerns and technical obstacles encountered are identified as constraining factors when upgrading the organization's enterprise infrastructure. The authors identify that enterprise architecture (EA) is often used to facilitate the leverage of IT resources and their integration and standardization. They advance Ross’ four-stage model of enterprise architecture maturity. Using a survey methodology (and partial least squares structural equation modelling) the authors test the impact of an organization's stage of EA maturity and the effectiveness of its IT resources. Mohammed Ibrahim, Pieter Ribbers and Bert Bettonvil look at how human-knowledge resources affect inter-organisational systems (IOS) capabilities within the logistics sector and their attainment of operational and strategic benefits. They build a conceptual model combining the transaction cost economics view, resource-based view and insights from IOS literature and test the model using mixed research methods: two qualitative case studies and a quantitative field study. Amongst their findings they show that human knowledge positively influences IOS capabilities related to cross-organisational business processes and transfer of knowledge. They also show that strategic benefits are the consequence of knowledge transfer, when the transfer supports business processes resulting in operational benefits. Torkil Clemmensen looks at usability testing and he sees that present methods fail to give reliable results in different (non-western) cultural contexts. The paper provides a discussion of the cultural fit and the consequences of cultural inconsistencies between stakeholders in system development and use. The author sets up a pilot study to begin the analysis and discuss the practice of usability testing of IS designs in multiple geographical locations. This pilot study can be used as a basis for larger studies in the future which he claims are likely to be more successful than present approaches when used in multi-cultural contexts. Clemmensen provides guidance to researchers wishing to take up this challenge." @default.
