Ca2+ release mechanisms, Ca2+ sparks, and local control of excitation-contraction coupling in normal heart muscle. Circ Res. 1999;85:770–776), which is the first in a series of MiniReviews on the theme of Calcium Cycling in Cardiovascular Cells. Over the next several months, three other MiniReviews will appear on this theme. The topics to be covered in this series are highlighted in the text box that appears on the first page of the Wier and Balke MiniReview. This new initiative, the establishment of series of Thematic MiniReviews, is notable for the following features: Each series of Thematic MiniReviews will be coordinated by a Guest Editor who, in the case of the present series on calcium cycling, is William Balke.Other series already commissioned include one on gene therapy in the cardiovascular system (coordinated by Toren Finkel, Charles Lowenstein, and Eduardo Marbán), another on oxidant signaling (Guest Editor David Harrison), and several on mouse models of human disease.Thematic MiniReviews undergo regular peer review. The Editors have chosen to publish each article soon after it is accepted rather than delaying publication until the entire series is ready for press. As a consequence, various series of Thematic MiniReviews will run in parallel, and articles in any given series will appear peripatetically over the period of several months (not necessarily in consecutive issues of the journal). The Thematic MiniReviews text box will herald each article and set it in its proper context. The Editors Previous Back to top Next FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails October 29, 1999Vol 85, Issue 9 Advertisement Article InformationMetrics © 1999 American Heart Association, Inc.https://doi.org/10.1161/01.RES.85.9.769 Originally publishedOctober 29, 1999 PDF download Advertisement" @default.
