- W4243183608 abstract "Oxidation reactions are part of the program in many cases for the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). This chapter discusses various types of catalytic oxidation processes that are commonly employed for the synthesis of important APIs. It looks at the epoxidation of alkenes, using both electrophilic and nucleophilic methods - in some cases, with organocatalysts - the dihydroxylation of olefins using metal-based catalysts. Catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation methods have also been applied to the synthesis of APIs, particularly those that contain aromatic units. Continuous-flow chemistry has recently been applied to the catalytic asymmetric sulfoxidation reaction using a biomimetic Manganese catalyst. There are several reports in the literature on the use of organocatalysts for conducting the asymmetric epoxidation reaction. In fact, the method of Juliá-Colonna has been described in some reviews as an organocatalytic method." @default.
