- W4243767508 abstract "This chapter deals with modeling of systems that convert thermal power into mechanical power and vice versa, by means of a compressible fluid. It describes several aspects of modeling the compressible fluids that represent the “blood” of the machine, several examples of thermodynamic cycles, as well as the thermodynamic processes that may be undergone by the fluids during these cycles. The chapter focuses on several technological components that enable the processes and the implementation of models for the simulation of their operation. Fluid compressibility is one of the main characteristics enabling fluids to be employed in heat engines. When a heat engine is used to reduce the temperature of a cold medium or increase the temperature of a hot medium, then a refrigeration cycle can be used. During their operation, heat engines submit the working fluid to four types of processes: heating, cooling, expansion, and compression." @default.
