- W4245660904 abstract "A nonstationary thermodynamic model simulating the seasonal variability of ice thickness and snow depth in the northeastern Sea of Azov is presented. The model considers the dependence of thermophysical characteristics of ice on its temperature and salinity. The model is numerically implemented on the grid with a variable vertical step, which allows maintaining high spatial resolution for calculating temperature profiles of ice during its formation and melting. The influence of the spatiotemporal resolution of the model on the simulation of seasonal variations in ice thickness is evaluated for the head of the Taganrog Bay in winter of 2016/17. The dependence of simulation results on the grid spacing is demonstrated. Boundary values of spatiotemporal grid steps are determined, whose further decrease does not lead to a noticeable improvement in the forecast of seasonal variations in ice thickness in the Sea of Azov and of the simulation of the temperature profile within it." @default.
