- W4247172073 abstract "Several techniques have been widely developed to effectively control the pore size of silica-derived membranes, including sol–gel, templating approach, and chemical vapor deposition. Intermediate layers are the layers between membrane layer and the support, which are prepared by dip coating of nanoparticle dispersions with subsequent drying and calcination. The support layer is to provide additional strength for supporting membrane layer without easily breaking. Microporous silica membranes have been shown to provide excellent molecular sieving properties for gas and liquid separations. The chapter summarizes all the relevant membrane separations, represented by hydrogen separation, carbon dioxide capture, pervaporation, and desalination. The incomparable characteristics of silica membranes make them one of the promising candidates for gas separations. The chapter also highlights the importance and broadness of microporous silica membranes for producing hydrogen and for capturing carbon dioxide from diverse sources." @default.
