This chapter examines why gender diversity in the senior ranks of financial services firms is still limited, why that needs to change and what might be done about it. It demonstrates the importance and value of gender diversity, with an analysis in four main topics: the business opportunity; where we are today and where we are going; an exploration of potential hurdles; and, finally, an overview of best practices. Despite the vast evidence of the benefits of increased gender diversity, the UK banking and finance industry continues to see a very slow pace of change.
