- W4247658064 abstract "This chapter describes the use of recombinant human flavin monooxygenase enzyme (FMO3) as one example of a catalyst for semi-preparative-scale drug metabolite synthesis. Amino acids can be easily converted into nitriles and aldehydes by oxidative decarboxylation, using either an enzymatic approach. The chapter demonstrates that by using the very stable vanadium chloroperoxidase (VCPO) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and a catalytic amount of sodium bromide, it is possible to convert glutamic acid into 3-cyanopropanoic acid with high conversion and selectivity. ω-Hydroxy fatty acids (ω-OHFAs) are valuable chemicals for the fragrance industry and for several commodity and advanced plastic applications. The chapter also shows the deracemization of 1-phenyl-tetrahydroisoquinoline, a key intermediate for the enantioselective synthesis of Solifenacin. Finally, the chapter focuses on the preparation of two lactones with interesting applications in industry through the laccase/2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-mediated oxidation of the corresponding diols using a commercially available enzyme." @default.
