The use of seismic methods in shallow water environment investigation is a world-wide consolidated procedure. Electric, electromagnetic, GPR and potential methods, also contribute in the inquiry of these environments however, they don't offer final products, in quantitative point of view, that could be directly applied for engineering projects. The choice of the right acoustic source for the optimum final product is still a guideline that lacks of quarrel, since wrong procedures are still detected in the technical community, with regards to the decision for one or another acoustics source, amongst the available ones. Thus, the purpose of this article is to contribute for the discussion on acoustic sources performance when applied for shallow water investigation. The conclusion is that the best answer could come if simultaneous multi-frequencial acoustics systems are used. Multi seismic sources operating simultaneously will guarantee resolution and penetration, making possible to answer many questions on engineering projects like dams, ports, pipelines, bridges and tunnels, and also inquires related to basic geology, or studies on silting process on rivers and reservoirs.
