In addition, the deflection calculation plays a major role in the design of structures and pieces. It can be used as a factor to verify the resistance criterion or the structural response. Deflections inside a structure are due to the effects of internal actions, which originate at the level of each section. The chapter focuses on the presentation and formulation of geometric methods for calculating the deflections of elastic structures. The deflection calculation methods are: differential equation for beam deflection (elastic line) method, direct integration method, moment-area method, and fictitious beam method." @default.
