The chapter examines the various ways that people create media traces so-called mediated memories. Historically, one of the most common kinds of diary-keeping are travel journals. This was a way to record new events and experiences to savor at a later time and share with others. Similarly, today travel blogs and social media postings are both a way to share with others as well as relive these traces when returning home. Remembrancing is also a way to create media traces of particularly momentous events in our lives. The chapter explores the role of memorial photography and, in particular, postmortem infant photography as a means of understanding how and why we create traces of difficult experiences in our lives." @default.
