- W4249760492 abstract "THE meetings of the International Committee for Bird Preservation, which were held in Rouen immediately preceding the Ornithological Congress, were attended by the official delegates of the national sections of fourteen different countries. The main subjects of discussion were the status of the Anatidse throughout the world and the protection of the quail; a number of reports on progress in bird preservation in various countries were contributed. The destruction of sea-birds by waste oil was also discussed and, on the proposal of Prof. Einar Lonnberg of Sweden, a sub-committee was appointed to expedite means of diminishing this serious evil. A further subcommittee was appointed to collate information with regard to Nature reserves throughout Europe with the view of promoting the establishment of further areas for this purpose. M. Jean Delacour (France) was elected president of the International Committee, Mr. Hoyes Lloyd (Canada) and Dr. P. G. van Tien-hoven (Holland) vice-presidents, Mr. Percy R. Lowe (Great Britain) Chairman of the national sections of Europe, and M. Leon Lippens (Belgium) and Miss Phyllis Barclay-Smith (Great Britain) were re-appointed secretaries. A message expressing his interest and wishing success to the meeting was received from the Prime Minister of Great Britain." @default.
