- W4251899503 abstract "The adsorption of D2, CO and the co-adsorption of D2 and CO on Rh(100) at low temperature (~ 100 K) have been studied using thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS) and low energy electron diffraction (LEED). The presence of CO on the surface reduces the deuterium sticking coefficient and the saturation deuterium coverage but no new CO or D2 desorption peaks occur. Both TDS and LEED results show that preadsorbed deuterium inhibits the formation of a low temperature desorption state of CO. Thermal desorption of D2 is greatly influenced by postdosed CO indicating formation of weakly bound states of deuterium indiced by CO adsorption. The results are consistent with a model in which CO and D are partially mixed and partially segregated when D2 is dosed first, but when CO is dosed first there is no detectable mixing." @default.
