- W4252071523 abstract "The use of trauma scoring as a physiological indicator is outlined as a method of identifying severely injured patients. The distinction is made between the Trauma Score (TS), the Triage Revised Trauma Score (T.RTS) and the Revised Trauma Score (RTS). The limitations of each of these scoring tools is considered. The Mechanism of Injury (MOD as a predictor of potential major trauma is highlighted. The Injury Severity Score (ISS) is described as a measure of anatomical injury. An example calculation of an ISS score is demonstrated together with the limitations of the scoring system. The use of both the RTS and the ISS as part of the trauma audit programme currently underway in the UK is described. Finally, the appropriateness of American trauma audit models is questioned." @default.
