Liquid chromatography (LC) represents the most commonly used separation technique coupled to several types of mass spectrometers (LC-MS). LC-MS is largely applied to obtain qualitative and quantitative data related to the components of complex samples, ranging from chemical to biological samples. The chapter summarizes the fundamental features of modern LC systems and addresses the most important issues related to LC-MS analysis. Capillary electrophoresis belongs to the electromigration techniques that have been widely used in the analysis of various chemical compounds. Taking into account high sensitivity of MS, connection of the analytical techniques contributes to the popularity of this method in diagnostics, research, and monitoring in medical sciences." @default.
