- W4253399169 abstract "Aluminium has been shown to accumulate frequently in the bone of patients receiving long-term maintenance dialysis. The pharmacokinetics of oral and injectable gold compounds have been Summarized in this chapter. Two types of pulmonary involvements have been described as a complication of chrysotherapy: fibrosing alveolitis and obliterative bronchiolitis. Both of these pathological patterns have however also been described as associated with rheumatoid arthritis itself. Severe enterocolitis is a rare, but life-threatening complication of gold therapy in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Any part of the gastrointestinal tract can be involved and histological examination reveals non-specific inflammatory changes. Gold levels have been detected in the serum and urine of infants nursed by gold-treated mothers. To further study the passage of gold into breast milk, gold levels were measured in serum as well as in the breast milk. The chapter describes a possible case of bronchiolitis due to auronofin treatment. Localized or generalized eczematous reactions to orthopedic implants are rare, and are mostly caused by an allergic reaction to the cobalt or nickel component of the implant. Since high local levels of metal may lead to allergic or toxic complications, such prostheses should be replaced as soon as possible." @default.
