We believe that our conclusions were carefully worded to reflect our results, which were dictated by our methods and research objective; that is, to interpret available scientific evidence to determine if specific physical activities of interest at work were independently causal of low back pain (LBP). Low back pain: we cannot afford ignoring workThe Spine JournalVol. 11Issue 2PreviewIn 2010, Wai et al. published eight reviews regarding the evidence for a causal relationship between several occupational risk factors, such as lifting, and bending and twisting of the trunk, and low back pain (LBP). In the case of lifting and LBP, the conclusion of Wai et al. [1] was “Based on these results, it is unlikely that occupational lifting is independently causative of LBP in the populations of workers studied.” A similar conclusion was drawn for bending and twisting of the trunk [2]. These conclusions leave the impression that neither occupational lifting nor bending and twisting of the trunk are risk factors for LBP. Full-Text PDF" @default.
