- W4254242510 abstract "The paper reviews instruments used on continuous casters. Instruments can be found on every major component of a caster and are crucial for caster operation. They are used to measure and control numerous caster parameters, assign quality rating for each cast section, diagnose machine and operating problems, and develop knowledge correlating quality and productivity to design and operation. Early emphasis was placed on mold instrumentation because product quality and productivity are determined mostly by mold practices and parameters. However, significant progress has been made recently in developing and applying instrumentation on the ladle, tundish and containment systems. Instruments are also available for hot quality inspection and dimensional measurements in the run-out. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd Résumé L'article passe en revue les instruments utilisés sur les machines fondeuses en continu. Ces instruments se trouvent sur chaque composante importante d'une machine fondeuse et ceux-ci sont critiques à l'opération de la machine fondeuse. Ils sont utilisés pour mesurer et controler de nombreuz paramètres de la machine fondeuse, pour assigner un classement de qualité à chaque section coulée, pour diagnostiquer les problèmes de la machine et du fonctionnement et pour développer les connaissances corrélant la qualité et la productivité au concept et au fonctionnement. Au début, on s'intéressait au mesurage des moules parce que la qualité du produit et la productivité se déterminent principalement par la performance et les paramètres du moule. Cependant, dernièrement on a fait un progrès significatif en développant le mesurage et en l'application à la poche, au panier de coulée et aux systèmes de confinement. Des instruments sont aussi disponibles pour l'inspection de la qualité à chaud et pour les mesures dimensionnelles dans la sortie." @default.
