- W4255963762 abstract "Tel.ma.to.bac'ter. Gr. neut. n. telma bog; N.L. masc. n. bacter a staff or rod; N.L. masc. n. Telmatobacter rod‐shaped bog‐inhabiting bacterium. Acidobacteria / Acidobacteriia / Acidobacteriales / Acidobacteriaceae / Telmatobacter The genus Telmatobacter accommodates mildly acidophilic, facultatively anaerobic chemo‐organotrophs that thrive at the oxic–anoxic interface of freshwater wetlands. Cells of these acidobacteria are Gram‐negative, non‐spore‐forming, motile rods that occur singly. Motility is due to possession of a single lateral flagellum. Reproduce by normal cell division. Sugars and pectin are the preferred growth substrates. Anaerobic growth occurs by means of fermenting sugars and several polysaccharides, including crystalline and amorphous cellulose. The products of cellulose degradation in anoxic conditions are acetate and hydrogen. Mesophilic and psychrotolerant. Liquid medium is superior to solid agar medium. Do not produce H 2 S from thiosulfate or indole from tryptophan. Highly sensitive to salt stress. NaCl inhibits growth at concentrations above 0.1% (w/v). Major fatty acids are iso‐C15:0 and iso‐C17:1 ω 9 c ; the cells also contain significant amounts of 13,16‐dimethyl octacosanedioic acid. The polar lipids are phosphatidylethanolamine and a number of phospholipids and aminophospholipids with an unknown structure. The quinone is MK‐8. Members of the class Acidobacteriia , order Acidobacteriales , family Acidobacteriaceae . Found in acidic wetlands, specifically Sphagnum peat bogs. DNA G + C content (mol%) : 57.6 ( T m ). Type species : Telmatobacter bradus Pankratov, Kirsanova, Kaparullina, Kevbrin and Dedysh 2012, 436 VP ." @default.
