His description of Dyazide® as triamterene is incorrect. Dyazide is a brand name of a compound containing 50 mg of triamterene and 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide.It is difficult to understand why Dr. Knarr would choose a combination drug such as Dyazide to begin treatment of his hypertensive patient. His error shows one of the pitfalls of using such drugs; namely, the difficulty the physician has in remembering the ingredients of the combination compound....References1.
