Osteoporotic fracture, a serious complication with high treatment cost and causing high disability and mortality rate, has become an important health problem affecting elderly people. To improve the whole society's awareness of bone health, and clarify the position of medical institutions at all levels in the process of prevention and control of osteoporosis, the expert consensus on establishing a three-level system for prevention and control osteoporosis in the elderly is issued. In the system, strategies including prevention first, combination of prevention and treatment, stratified diagnosis and treatment, and full-cycle management are applied aiming to integrate medical resources, and reduce the occurrences of osteoporosis and its fractures effectively.
