- W4282972938 abstract "Lawsonia leaves were used as biodegradable biomass in the oil spill cleanup from seawater. Spilled oil mass, removal time, adsorbent dose, and sorption temperature are the main parameters studied in the oil/water system. At room temperature (28 °C), the optimum oil capacity reached 1.60 g/g at 2 min. Sorption system was modeled by isotherm (Freundlich, Langmuir, Redlich-Peterson) and kinetic (Pseudo-first-order, Pseudo-second-order, Elovich, and Intraparticle) models. Langmuir isotherm appeared best-fitting models with R2: 0.9541 indicating oil sorption monolayer onto Lawsonia leaves. In addition, the results are good fitting with the Pseudo-first-order kinetic model (R2: 0.9732) compared to other models representing the physical sorption of oil onto Lawsonia leaves and the sorption thermodynamic appeared an exothermic sorption system. Furthermore, the reusability of Lawsonia leaves established the economic recycled of biomass up to 4 sorption cycles." @default.
