- W4283068665 abstract "A review of porphyrin stereochemical features and patterns found in the solid state is given. The importance of various core conformations is detailed, primarily through a description of the four-coordinate species of the first-row transition elements. The effects of peripheral substitution patterns on core conformation are presented. The primary features of five- and six-coordinate species are illustrated through descriptions of iron(II) and iron(III) derivatives. Iron derivatives are biochemically important and also show the importance of electronic structure for stereochemical features. Descriptions of the iron species with the important diatomic ligands NO, O2, CO, and CN − are given. A brief discussion of higher coordination number species is provided; these are formed by early transition elements and actinides and lanthanides. The stereochemistry of the parent free-base porphyrins and their protonated forms (porphyrin acids) are also described" @default.
