- W4283167180 abstract "Objectives This study aims to develop a tool that can objectively and validly measure student agency for middle and high school students.
Methods To this end, first, a measurement tool was developed by reviewing previous related studies. Next, the content validity was verified through a Delphi survey targeting 12 experts. Finally, data were collected by conducting a student agency test targeting 2,158 middle and high school students located in Gyeonggi-do, and construct validity was verified through confirmatory factor analysis.
Results Three domains of student agency were established: initiative attitude, initiative action, and community agency. Motivation, self-efficacy, self-reflection, and growth mindset are four sub-factors of initiative attitude, while goal formulation, initiative execution, and effort continuity are three sub-factors of initiative behavior. Communication, consideration, cooperation, community consciousness, and involvement are the five sub-factors of community agency. There are 48 items in the student agency measurement tool. As a result of confirming the validity of the test data through confirmatory factor analysis, it was consistent with the student agency factor model established by the research team.
Conclusions Based on the results of this study, educational implications of the student agency measurement tool and utilization plans were discussed.
