- W4283448511 abstract "Body mass is one of the basic information in ecological studies, however, this is a rare information for the Late Pleistocene megafauna of the South America Intertropical Region. In this paper I proposed a Reduced Major Axis regression to estimate the body mass of extinct xenrathrans (exception to glyptodonts), which presents a high correlation (R2 = 0.96), and moderate to low %PE (39) and %SEE (33), showing that it could predict well the body mass of the extinct taxa. Using this new regression and other regressions proposed in the literature, the body masses of 26 Late Pleistocene megafauna taxa were estimated, classifying them in small herbivores, medium-sized herbivores, megaherbivores, medium-large omnivores, and medium-large carnivores. Body mass probably had a great influence on the habitat choice of Xenarthra taxa during the Late Pleistocene, as the higher the body mass, the more open the environment, and major the consumption of C4 plants." @default.
