The effect of concrete creep and shrinkage on deflection is elaborated on, and then the time-dependent coefficient-modified method is presented to predict long-term deflection. Also, the stiffness-modified method to calculate deflection at service loads is discussed. For railway prestressed concrete beams, the approach to calculating the rotation angle of the beam ends at service loads is illustrated. In cracking analysis, the formula for the cracking moment is obtained first, then a simplified general formula for crack width at loading based on the presented analytical model is achieved. Finally, the formulas for deflection and crack widths in the service period provided by the design codes along with the requirements for deflection control and crack control are introduced." @default.
