- W4285164313 abstract "The scarcity of fossil fuel has triggered the necessity of storing renewable energy, which paved the way for development of energy-storage devices. For the last few decades, researchers have thrived to investigate the electrochemical properties of conjugated polymer–-based electrodes, which have emerged as potential candidates for energy-storage application owing to their low cost, lightweight, flexibility, and benignity toward the environment. These organic semiconductor-based electrodes have shown tremendous improvement in the cycle stability. However, there still exist certain challenges that need to be overcome before we can achieve large-scale commercialization of these conjugated polymers–based flexible electrodes. In this chapter, conjugated polymers–based flexible and wearable electrodes that have been reported within the last 10 years (i.e., 2011–20) have been highlighted, and nitty-gritty details regarding flexible electrodes have been collated altogether. Several design strategies along with modifications of the conjugated polymer structures have been discussed that have drastically improved the charge storage, conductivity, mechanical strength, and rate capability of the electrodes. The usage of such low-cost materials, with efficient electrochemical properties, has been evaluated for large-scale production in future." @default.
